Eagles Mere Gatherings
Sponsored by: Shadowlore & Grave Promotions
Hosting these gatherings Shadowlore offers all those who have become friends online the opportunity to finally meet one another in a safe and comfortable enviroment. Being able to meet others like ourselves helps us to know that we are not really alone. There are others who share our interests, deal with similiar problems and are willing to offer their support and friendship.
The Gatherings are held twice a year in the spring and fall at the Lodge in Eagles Mere.
The Lodge is a three story cabin that offers rustic comfort for 40 + guests.
The inside of the lodge is as striking as the outside. There are 9 bedrooms,4 bathrooms,2 half baths, a fully equipped kitchen, game room and numerous sitting rooms.
The south eastern side of the lodge is made up mostly of picture windows on all three floors and the view from every window is outstanding.
This stone fireplace with Cast Iron insert keeps the second floor rooms toasty even on the coldest days.
Here is a large sitting room where you can chat with friends or curl up with a good book.
The Hot Tub will seat 8 to 10 comfortably.
The bedroom pictured has 4 twin beds and a set of bunk beds. All bedrooms are dormitory style with more then one person to a room and complete with bed linens, blankets and pillows
Sitting slightly below ground level, the first floor holds the kitchen and dining area where meals are prepared and shared by all.
Just off the dining room is the Game Room complete with pool table and dart board.
This is the oldest building in existence at Eagles Mere. It was the residence of Lewis Smith, George Lewis's secretary and overseer.
This wooden foot bridge arches over the water at the entrance of the Outlet Pond where during the summer and fall months magnificent water lillies cover the water.
If you are walking along the north side of the lake you will come across the Cresmont Inn's boat launch, where you are welcome to sit and watch the world go by.
This view of the lake was taken from Lovers Rock where the legendary history of Eagles Mere says the bride of a young bookeeper was drowned by the capsizing of a sailboat many years ago. The Legend says that after the drowning, he kept a lonely vigil there until after midnight when seeing the misty form of his wife rising from the lake he plunged in and went to a watery grave by her side.
It is said that those who choose to watch from this rock until midnight can see two misty forms gliding across the water, hand in hand.
The Laurel Path follows the edge of the water most of the way around the lake. It's along here you will find a dense growth of hemlock, beech and chestnut, their twisted roots woven into the path and great rocks covered with laurel reaching to and hanging over the water's edge.
This Gazebo sits on the village green, site of one of the oldest hotel structures in Eagles Mere, The Edgemere.
The clock tower is one of the last reminders of the Victorian resort that drew so many wealthy Philadelphians to this premier vacation spot. Today, Eagles Mere retains it's unique charm with the splendid cottages and quaint shops becoming a magnet for those seeking respite from the faster pace of life in the urban realm.
Eagles Mere Lake has virtually no inflow from surface streams;
it recieves it's water from thousands of springs that bubble up from the lake's floor. It has been rumored that the lake is bottomless but measurments taken in the middle, opposite Lover's rock put the greatest depth at 53 feet. The water of Eagles Mere has a peculiar "greenish tint" of old ocean, but it is so clear and free of sediment of any kind that it's sandy bottom is clearly visible in many spots.

There is a magic at Eagles Mere. I can't explain it. It's something that must be felt, sensed or experienced and only then can you fully understand the allure.

Eagles Mere has been labeled "The Town Time Forgot" . A town frozen in time. A turn of the century mystery that offers you a rare opportunity to escape from society's pressures and travel back to a time where the pace of life was less stressful.
